It’s been a busy year for the Midnight Cats, we’ve been lucky enough to perform for some beautiful couples, met some of the wildest audiences yet and witnessed new and exotic interpretations of the word ‘dance’. Who would have thought during that first practice in 2010 that we would be still loving it nearly a decade later? We’re always throwing in new songs to keep our set fresh but if there’s anything you’d like to hear give us a shout at info@themidnightcats.com, we’d love to hear your suggestions!
Back in April, we were invited to play for the wedding of Simon and Mary in Staffordshire who blew us away with their first dance moves. This was one of those nights that made us love what we do, all of the friends and family knew how to raise the roof and the buffet was exquisite. Major cat props to all the bridesmaids and groomsmen for nailing the first dance routine, we can barely figure out the Macarena between the four of us…
In May, we got to play at the picturesque Sandon Hall in Staffordshire for Jo and Ed’s wedding. Right from the off we knew that we’d be in for a good night and the audience didn’t disappoint. We witnessed the most convincing ‘caterpillar’ of the year on the dance floor and saw the groomsmen savagely upstaged by bridesmaids in the highly contested 9 to 5 dance-off.
Our next wedding was for Sarah & Rob at Fylde Adventure Centre in Lytham where we got to play in an enormous teepee. We have known Sarah for a while from the always enjoyable Adventure Scouts Weekender so it was an honour to be asked to play her special day. With a little help from their amazing friends and family the night was a non-stop party where everyone got involved to make it an evening to remember.
The next wedding over in Barnsley had a surprise in store for us and a Midnight Cat first… Dave and Lucy were accommodating enough to let us use their caravan as a makeshift green room and it felt properly like we were on holiday!
We then got a play a riotous show for their friends and family and we ended the night blasting happy hardcore over the DJ set (another cat first!).
We’ve also played some paw-some public gigs over the last few months including the always entertaining Granvilles in Stone, The Club House in Liverpool and The Filling Factory in Chorley. We hope to return to all of these fantastic venues soon so keep an eye out if you’re local or keep checking our social media for upcoming public dates.
And finally, last week got to take the stage at Adlington Carnival which was one of the highlights of our year so far. We were lucky enough to catch the amazing talents of Conixi, Scratch and Stringbox before taking to the stage and doing our thing. The carnival also helped to raise a lot of money for Mind, Lancashire and was a great day out for everyone. Providing the sound was the incredible Boxoso AV who make us sound the cat’s pyjamas.
So what next for the Midnight Cats? Well, never a band to paws (pause..? eh? *cymbal crash*) we are going to be popping up all over the country in the coming months as far as Bracknell, as well as shows at Cawood Holiday Park (always a great time had!) and Carden Park. We are also proud to support some great charities at their upcoming events including the awe-inspiring Mancunian Way‘s Summer Ball and a fundraiser for Witton Albion FC supporting Mind.
